I’ve fallen head over heels for beach sessions, even though sand and I will never be friends. There’s just something about the wide open sky and the sound of waves that makes people loosen up. Kids forget about posing and just run barefoot in the sand, couples laugh when the tide catches them, and families end up snuggling close against the wind.
Every time I shoot out there, the light surprises me. Sunrise can bring soft pinks and blues. Sunset often sets the whole sky on fire.
What I love most about this spot, though, is the way the light feels effortless. It wraps around everything in the softest, most natural way. I don’t have to overthink it - I just get to sink into the moment with you. The less I’m adjusting and wrestling with angles, the more I’m tuned in to the laughter, the movement, and the tiny in-between details that make a session unforgettable.
The beach isn’t about perfect poses. It’s about the wind messing up your hair, dipping your toes in the water, and enjoying a moment you’ll actually remember when you look back at the photos. Sometimes it’s me wading waist-deep in the water to get the shot. Sometimes it’s kids jumping over waves until they’re doubled over in giggles, or splashing mom as she just embraces the water hitting her dress and laughs right along with them. And always, it’s the absolute gorgeous light at my favorite beach spot (hint: it isn’t that far from us!).
It’s become the place where everything feels lighter, freer, and more alive. The kind of magic that stays with you long after the waves fade — when all that’s left are the memories you carry and the photos that let you relive them again and again.
